BOWI
We meet on the 1st Thursday of every month at Staincross Club in Mapplewell.

Our meetings are relaxed and friendly with a mixture of guest speakers, games nights, craft sessions and the odd quiz. We've recently had a talk from the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, a good boogie at a post Christmas dinner and dance and had a lovely time poppy making for Remembrance Day. We have a full and exciting agenda for the rest of 2023 and early 2024 including a talk from author Michael Fowler, the art of Millinery, keeping chickens, pottery painting and an afternoon tea for the King's Coronation.

There's also numerous spin off groups run by our members including a weekly walking group, Helping Hands if you like volunteering and BOWI Buns if you fancy something nice to eat and a good catch up.

About Us
Barnsley Opals Women's Institiute (BOWI for short) was formed in June 2019. The idea for a brand new WI in Barnsley came from Sarah (our Founder and 1st Chair). We've created a diverse WI where all women are welcome. We are under the umbrella and support of the South Yorkshire Federation of Women's Institute.
There are now over 40 members who regularly meet either at the member's meetings at the accessible Staincross Club on the 1st Thursday of the month, or at one of our MOE events (Member Only Events) which are set up by individuals and include anything from group dog walks, a night at the theatre or a visit to see some very cute and cuddly Alpacas! We also have numerous spin off groups organised by members. There's literally something for everyone to get involved with if they wish.
