We meet on the 1st Thursday of every month at Staincross Club in Mapplewell. Our meetings are from 7:15 for a 7:30 start.

Our meetings are relaxed and friendly with a mixture of guest speakers, crafts, workshops and social evenings. Recently we've line danced, had a chippy tea, crafted and had a talk all about women's health (including a very fun game of bingo!)

About Us
Barnsley Opals Women's Institiute (BOWI for short) was formed in June 2019. The idea for a brand new WI in Barnsley came from Sarah (our Founder and first President). We've created a diverse WI where all women are welcome. BOWI are under the umbrella of the South Yorkshire Federation of Women's Institutes.
There are now over 40 members who regularly meet either at the member's meetings at the accessible Staincross Club on the 1st Thursday of the month. There are also a number of sub groups we run that offer something for everyone including dining out, craft, books and trips out.
